Tottenham Man Niko Kranjcar Scores a Corker for Croatia (Video)

Having joined White Hart Lane for a pittance and then gone on to prove himself as perhaps the bargain buy of the summer, Croatian international once again showed himself to be a marvelous flair player with this wonder goal in this international friendly against Belgium.

Having ran with the ball for 20 yards the Tottenham playmaker then unleashed an unstoppable 30 yarder with force past the hapless Belgian keeper for his 12th international goal. Harry Redknapp clearly knew what he was doing when he snapped up his former Portsmouth charge for just £2.5m.

The 25 year old has been instrumental in the north London sides challenge for a top four spot helping bride midfield to attack and assisting a great many goals and putting away some fine finishes of his own. Its just a shame that he won’t be present at the forthcoming World Cup to wow the masses.

Pompey medio confident of UEFA Cup qualification

by sub on February 28th, 2008 191 words | no comments
  • Digg

Last season just one goal separated Portsmouth from gaining entry to the UEFA Cup and Croatian international midfielder Niko Kranjcar says that his team are keen to avoid that scenario once again.

Kranjcar is banking on Pompey’s home matches to garner the points that will help them a UEFA Cup place. He says:

After Everton we have six home games left – and we have already played the Big Four. Everton is not going to be a decisive game but if we can get a win it will be a massive boost for us.

Every player who signed for Pompey wants to achieve something. We have players who are used to playing in Europe and they want to bring European football to Portsmouth.

In the League you never know what will happen. But if we have a run of wins it will be possible to get into Europe.

With Tottenham Hotspur having won the Carling Cup thereby snatching a UEFA Cup spot for themselves, there is one fewer UEFA Cup spot up for grabs. Can Portsmouth win it? Manchester City and Aston Villa might have some say in that decision.
