Are Manchester United ‘the new Arsenal’? Surely they’re not that boring!

by stresster on February 2nd, 2009 3 comments

I suppose Paul Ince has got to do something with his spare time after being ditched by Blackburn earlier in the season. However, his latest comments regarding Manchester United are something of a back-handed comment and unlikely to be seen favourably by Sir Alex Ferguson. The Red Devils have cruised to the top of the Premier League in recent weeks, although Ince reckons it’s through ruthless efficiency more than anything else. [Read the rest of this entry »]

Is Blackburn manager way out of his depth in the Premier League?

by stresster on November 24th, 2008 5 comments

It’s all very easy to start slating Rovers and their manager at the moment, especially as they sit in nineteenth place. However, many of us were sceptical about Paul Ince’s ability to manage in the English top flight at the start of the season, especially as his experience to date was with MK Dons and Macclesfield in League Two. Blackburn manager hits back at Chelsea assistant following ‘aggressive’ claims

by stresster on November 10th, 2008 no comments

Paul Ince is a feisty young manager who is demonstrating that he’s prepared to fight tooth and nail to defend his team. There were one or two unsavoury (but accurate?) things said about Blackburn in the build-up to Sunday’s match with Chelsea, and the Rovers boss went about putting things right with one or two well-chosen words. ‘Aston Villa can’t afford my striker’ claims Blackburn manager: But Manchester City certainly can!

by stresster on October 23rd, 2008 1 comment

With the money flying around in the Premier League at the moment (not literally), it’s always a bit dangerous to start questioning whether a club can afford to buy one of your players, especially as there are one or two outfits with a seemingly bottomless pot of cash. Ever since Paul Ince became manager, he’s been trying to fend off suitors off a certain Blackburn striker, and he’s already starting to assemble the proverbial fortress ahead of the January transfer window opening. Blackburn striker ‘eating frozen pasta’ and ‘getting annoyed by Paul Ince’

Not so long ago, Nemanja Vidic was quoted in a few newspapers, speaking of his difficulty acclimatising to life in England. Never mind that the guy was from Serbia and had been playing football in Russia before he joined Manchester United. Now a Blackburn forward has hit the headlines with similar quibbles about life in the grim north of the country, it doesn’t seem like he’s getting much support from his manager either! Liverpool legend set to make Blackburn debut against Arsenal?

by stresster on September 10th, 2008 5 comments

The Gunners were woeful at Craven Cottage a few weeks ago, and supporters will be hoping for a vast improvement when their team travels to Blackburn on Saturday. It appears as though the defence might have to contend with a striker who has been a thorn in Arsenal’s side for over a decade, will he get a chance to terrorise them once again? Blackburn manager loots former club for latest signing: Can this player cut it in the top flight?

by stresster on August 29th, 2008 1 comment
  • Digg

They say that there’s a gulf between the Premier League and Championship, so one can only imagine the supposed chasm that exists between the English top flight and League Two. Nevertheless, players such as Jimmy Bullard and Bobby Zamora have demonstrated that it is possible to make the setp up from the lower league, Blackburn fans will hope their latest signing can do the same. Striker holding out for a longer contract at Blackburn Rovers

by stresster on August 27th, 2008 3 comments

It appeared as though Paul Ince had persuaded this forward to commit himself to Blackburn Rovers, although it’s come to light that no contract has yet been signed at Ewood Park. Will progress be made in the next few days, thus ensuring that ‘The Guv’nor’ has a full set of attacking options this season? [Read the rest of this entry »]

Will Blackburn Rovers manager receive a warm West Ham United welcome on Saturday?

by stresster on August 26th, 2008 3 comments

Hammers fans enjoyed a magnificent opening ten minutes to the Premier League campaign, with Dean Ashton firing in two early goals to ensure that the team got off to the best possible start against Wigan. However, it’s been downhill ever since, with West Ham getting clobbered at Man City on Sunday, Anton Ferdinand on his way out and rumours of Alan Curbishley getting the sack. Blackburn defender hands in transfer request – on his way to Newcastle?

by stresster on August 13th, 2008 5 comments

Brad Friedel and David Bentley have already jumped the good ship Blackburn Rovers this summer, and there now appears to be a third exit on the horizon. It appeared that Paul Ince had retained the services of all key players bar the above pair, although an important defensive player has now stated he wants to leave Ewood Park.
