Blackburn manager hits back at Chelsea assistant following ‘aggressive’ claims

by stresster on November 10th, 2008 no comments

Paul Ince is a feisty young manager who is demonstrating that he’s prepared to fight tooth and nail to defend his team. There were one or two unsavoury (but accurate?) things said about Blackburn in the build-up to Sunday’s match with Chelsea, and the Rovers boss went about putting things right with one or two well-chosen words. ‘Aston Villa can’t afford my striker’ claims Blackburn manager: But Manchester City certainly can!

by stresster on October 23rd, 2008 2 comments

With the money flying around in the Premier League at the moment (not literally), it’s always a bit dangerous to start questioning whether a club can afford to buy one of your players, especially as there are one or two outfits with a seemingly bottomless pot of cash. Ever since Paul Ince became manager, he’s been trying to fend off suitors off a certain Blackburn striker, and he’s already starting to assemble the proverbial fortress ahead of the January transfer window opening. Blackburn striker ‘eating frozen pasta’ and ‘getting annoyed by Paul Ince’

by stresster on October 7th, 2008 1 comment

Not so long ago, Nemanja Vidic was quoted in a few newspapers, speaking of his difficulty acclimatising to life in England. Never mind that the guy was from Serbia and had been playing football in Russia before he joined Manchester United. Now a Blackburn forward has hit the headlines with similar quibbles about life in the grim north of the country, it doesn’t seem like he’s getting much support from his manager either! by stresster on September 10th, 2008 5 comments

The Gunners were woeful at Craven Cottage a few weeks ago, and supporters will be hoping for a vast improvement when their team travels to Blackburn on Saturday. It appears as though the defence might have to contend with a striker who has been a thorn in Arsenal’s side for over a decade, will he get a chance to terrorise them once again? Blackburn manager loots former club for latest signing: Can this player cut it in the top flight?

by stresster on August 29th, 2008 1 comment

They say that there’s a gulf between the Premier League and Championship, so one can only imagine the supposed chasm that exists between the English top flight and League Two. Nevertheless, players such as Jimmy Bullard and Bobby Zamora have demonstrated that it is possible to make the setp up from the lower league, Blackburn fans will hope their latest signing can do the same. Will progress be made in the next few days, thus ensuring that ‘The Guv’nor’ has a full set of attacking options this season? [Read the rest of this entry »]

Will Blackburn Rovers manager receive a warm West Ham United welcome on Saturday?

by stresster on August 26th, 2008 3 comments

Hammers fans enjoyed a magnificent opening ten minutes to the Premier League campaign, with Dean Ashton firing in two early goals to ensure that the team got off to the best possible start against Wigan. However, it’s been downhill ever since, with West Ham getting clobbered at Man City on Sunday, Anton Ferdinand on his way out and rumours of Alan Curbishley getting the sack. by stresster on August 13th, 2008 5 comments

Brad Friedel and David Bentley have already jumped the good ship Blackburn Rovers this summer, and there now appears to be a third exit on the horizon. It appeared that Paul Ince had retained the services of all key players bar the above pair, although an important defensive player has now stated he wants to leave Ewood Park. Blackburn take a punt on Tottenham keeper – Aston Villa snap up his predecessor

by stresster on July 25th, 2008 11 comments

Never has there been a summer where clubs are not prepared to let players leave until they have found a suitable replacement. Sometimes it’s been the opposite, where clubs can’t buy a transfer target until they have the cash from a player sale. It all appears to have worked out for Blackburn and Aston Villa, who have landed themselves new goalkeepers ahead of the new season. Perhaps fans of the latter have more reason to be cheerful! Blackburn agree to sell keeper for £2 million – looks like Aston Villa who have been successful

by stresster on July 24th, 2008 no comments

It’s been a tricky start to life at Ewood Park for Paul Ince. It’s almost as if he’s a knight who has arrived at a castle, only to find it under immediate attack from barbarians, so he’s been busy trying to ward them off with his bow and arrow before they loot the crown jewels. Will Aston Villa or Spurs break the bank for £18m midfielder?

by stresster on July 22nd, 2008 23 comments

As we’ve learnt this summer, a player wanting to leave a football club does not mean it’s going to happen. After all, unless they are out of contract (in which case the world is their oyster), a bidder has to meet their current club’s valuation. In the case of Blackburn and [Read the rest of this entry »]

Blackburn continue to reject bids from Newcastle, Villa and Panathinaikos: Can Paul Ince keep his squad intact?

by stresster on July 18th, 2008 1 comment

It might surprise you to hear that out of the three players for which Blackburn have recently received a bid, none of them have been for striker Roque Santa Cruz. Which has got to be a good thing as far as Rovers fans are concerned, although they do have a battle on their hands if they’re to keep hold of all current squad members.
