Paris Saint-Germain have completed the £4.2m signing of Alex from Chelsea.

Alex, who is believed to have signed a three-year deal, will link up with his former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti in the French capital.

The Brazilian, 29, handed in a transfer request after slipping down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the arrivals of David Luiz and Gary Cahill.

“He is a great professional,” said Ancelotti. “It was a good opportunity given his price.”

Indeed that is a good price. £4.2m in today’s transfer market is a bargain buy for an experienced performer like Alex and Carlo Ancelotti is clearly more than aware of the job the Brazilian can do, having managed the centre back for two years before the Italian left Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Alex made 115 appearances for Chelsea, whom he joined in 2004 before being loaned out to PSV Eindhoven for three seasons, picking up a trio of domestic league titles in the process, before landing a domestic double at the West London club in Ancelotti’s first season in charge.

The 29 year old is a no nonsense performer who Ancelotti will hope boost PSG’s chances of securing their first Ligue 1 title in almost two decades. The newly installed Parc des Princes boss may well be looking to make one or two more additions before the transfer window slams shut and the club’s Qatari owners have the cash to help fund bids this month.

Andre Villas-Boas appeared to have little faith in Alex and only only picked him for three Premier League appearances thus far this season and the signing of Gary Cahill this month was effectively the death-knell for the big Brazilian at Chelsea.

PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti is keen to bring Arsenal star Theo Walcott to France.

Ancelotti is a big fan of Walcott and tried to sign the England international while in charge of Chelsea 12 months ago.

Walcott remains in drawn-out talks with Arsenal over a new contract, with his current deal to expire in 2013.

PSG have the spending power to turn Walcott’s head – and to convince Arsenal to cash in.

Theo Walcott is a frustrating player to watch. The Arsenal winger clearly has the talent but has failed to fulfill his potential on a consistent basis. Carlo Ancelotti has been brought in to the Parc des Princes to help lure top talent to the Ligue 1 side and that work may well begin in earnest if/when they secure the domestic title and the resultant Champions League qualification.

Walcott may feel more open to such a move if indeed the Gunners fail to secure Champions League qualification of their own. The England international is reportedly stalling on a new deal and may be waiting to see how this season pans out before committing long term to Arsenal.

Similarly Arsene Wenger may well feel that he is not getting enough out of the 22 year old winger and is not ready to offer the former Southampton man feels he deserves.

Alex was last night on the verge of a £4m move to Paris St Germain.

The Chelsea defender wants to link up with former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Carlo Ancelotti has been handed a big transfer fund by PSG’s Qatari owners who hope that the recent appointment of a high profile boss will help attract big name players to the Parc des Princes. Alex handed in a transfer request six weeks ago and has been close to securing a deal to move to nearby QPR but appears to have opted intead for a move to the Ligue 1 table toppers.

The 29 year old Brazilian has struggled to get playing time at Stamford Bridge and last January’s signing of David Luiz effectively pushed the former PSV Eindhoven out of the defensive equation and Andre Villas-Boas’s chase for Gary Cahill pretty much sealed the big defender’s fate.

PSG are sitting top of the domestic table and Ancelotti is expected to secure the French capital club’s first title in almost two decades and will then be charged with an assault on the Champions League next term.

Alex has been at Chelsea since 2007, after an initial three year loan spell at PSV, and has notched up 133 appearances for the West London side, collecting a Premier League title and two FA Cup triumphs during his spell at the club.

Paris St Germain have made a sensational move to sign Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.
The England star has 18 months left on his current Stamford Bridge deal and has been linked with an unlikely move to Manchester United, as well as a more realistic switch to the MLS with LA Galaxy.
But talkSPORT has been told former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti, now in charge at the Ligue 1 club, has made contact with Chelsea about making the midfield maestro part of his French revolution.
The 33-year-old, who is third in Chelsea’s all-time goalscoring charts, has fallen down the pecking order in west London since the arrival of manager Andre Villas-Boas and is reported to be unhappy about his restricted first-team action this season.

Given that Frank Lampard has ridden out the brief few weeks where Andre Villas-Boas had opted to put the England man on the bench and shown a marked return to form, a move to PSG seems less likely. talkSPORT’s assertion that the Chelsea veteran is unhappy that his first-team action has been ‘restricted’ is also a tad inaccurate as the 33 year old has in fact started 17 out of 22 Premier League matches this season, which makes him pretty much a regular.

Lampard did however start the season in sedate fashion but has seen an upturn in form, resulting in three goals in his past four games. Villas-Boas may well be planning for the future but the Chelsea veteran is still a pivotal part of the West London club’s plans.

That said, Carlo Ancelotti is probably being quite wise by looking to see if there is any scope to persuading the former West Ham man to leave Stamford Bridge for a new challenge in Paris. The former Chelsea boss completed the domestic double in his first season in charge of the Blues and that campaign represented a personal high point for Lampard’s career
as he netted an incredible 27 goals in all competitions and laid on another 20 assists.

Ancelotti will reportedly be handed a large transfer fund injection this month as PSG’s Qatari owners look to secure the Parc des Princes’ side’s first domestic title in almost two decades. They currently sit top of the Ligue 1 table, three points clear of surprise package Montpellier and seven ahead of reigning champions Lille.

The Italian is also said to be interested in Carlos Tevez and has the funds to make prospective big name purchases consider a move to French top tier.

Sir Alex Ferguson has earmarked a move for PSG playmaker Javier Pastore as he looks to add more creativity to his Man United side. The Argentine has reportedly failed to settle at the Parc des Princes side and the Man United boss will hope to lure the former Palermo man to Old Trafford in the summer.

Ferguson is looking to sign a goal-scoring midfielder to help boost his first team options and having previously been strongly linked with interest in both Luka Modric and Wesley Sneijder the Scot has now identified Pastore as an alternative option. New PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti will be loathed to lose the 22 year old and will fight to prevent the Cordoba born youngster from contemplating a move to the Premier League giants.

Though PSG are top of the Ligue 1 table and Pastore has done relatively well he is still short of the form he showed during his final season in Serie A and this has led to talk of prospective suitors considering making offers for the rangy midfielder.

There has been much speculation that the Argentine international has not taken well to life in France and this has led to talk of a possible exit.

Man United’s midfield options have been greatly limited this season, with Darren Fletcher and Tom Cleverley being out with lengthy injuries and Anderson only recently recovering from his own lay-off. This led to the short term return of retired veteran Paul Scholes to help act as cover and Ferguson will look for a long term solution to the lack of players who can ably link midfield and attack.

Pastore may feel that though PSG’s new Qatari owners are able to fund relatively big name additions the French side may not be able to ably challenge for top level honours and that a move to a club such as Man United may prove more likely to garner major European accolades.

Perhaps worryingly for PSG, Pastore stated in a radio interview last month ‘I train with great conviction in order to realise my dream of playing with a big team. If I want a team bigger than PSG to contact me, then it depends on me.’

Newly installed PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti is said to be readying a big money bid for Arsenal winger Theo Walcott. The Ligue 1 title chasers brought in the former Chelsea boss last month after axing Antoine Kombouare and have handed the Italian a large transfer fund as the Qatari owners of the Parc des Princes side push to secure the Paris sides first domestic title success in almost two decades.

Having spent over £85m in the summer of quality additions PSG sit at the top of the Ligue 1 pile but that will not stop Ancelotti investing in big name talent as he looks to further strengthen a squad that can mount far reaching Champions League campaigns in the coming seasons and with that in mind the 52 year old has earmarked a move for England international Walcott.

The French side may look to take advantage of the fact that the Gunners star is yet to agree terms on a new contract and as the former Southampton man has less than 18 months to run on his current deal there is much speculation about the wide-man’s Arsenal future, not least because of late the 22 year old has been hugely ineffective.

Though Walcott started the season brightly in recent weeks his form has dipped significantly and this has led to speculation that all is not well with the young attacker and there has been talk of interest in his services from a number of Europe’s elite, including both Chelsea and Juventus.

Walcott moved to North London in January 2006 for a fee that has risen to a reported £12m and the speedy Arsenal man has notched up over 200 appearances for the club, albeit with over 70 of those coming from the bench. Arguably the England man is still to fulfill his obvious potential but will still hope to be part of Fabio Capello’s Euro 2012 squad this summer.

Should an offer from PSG be made then Wenger will have to weigh up that undoubted potential against the very up and down form Walcott has displayed in the five and a half years since his Arsenal debut. Another factor could well be the reported salary demands the player has made, which the Emirates Stadium side may feel do not match the performances he produces on a weekly basis.

Sky Sports sources understand Carlos Tevez’s adviser is set to hold talks with Paris Saint Germain on Thursday about a prospective move to the French capital.

Big-spending PSG have made an approach to land the wantaway Manchester City striker as they look to bring in a high-profile signing in this month’s transfer window.

Tevez’s future at City has been the subject of constant speculation since his infamous bust-up with Roberto Mancini during their UEFA Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.

Carlo Ancelotti appears keen to nab Man City striker Carlos Tevez but will have to make an attractive offer to beat off interest from both AC and Inter Milan. The 27 year old Argentine is certain to leave the Etihad Stadium side and the moment any prospective suitor meets the valuation placed on the prolific marksman by the Premier League leaders then a deal will probably be struck.

Roberto Mancini is certainly not missing Tevez on the field of play as the likes of Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko have put away a great many chances this term but that is not to say that the former West Ham and Man United man doesn’t have the quality to be a success elsewhere it’s just that the invariably headache that comes with the signing of such a volatile character comes with it an element of risk.

Tevez hit a total of 52 goals in his first two seasons at Man City, an enviable record, and Ancelotti has revealed that his Ligue 1 side had had many approaches from agents of big name strikers who appeared keen on a move to the French big spenders, who are now under the leadership of some very rich Qataris.

Ancelotti revealed that many strikers had been offered to him, stating “Do you want the names? OK, now I tell you the players that agents are offering on the market, officially or not: Tévez, Torres, Berbatov, Pavlyuchenko, Cavani, Llorente.” (Telegraph)

Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he has been offered Chelsea striker Fernando Torres this month.

Ancelotti signed the 27-year-old from Liverpool for £50 million almost a year ago but the forward has struggled for form since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, scoring just five goals in 41 appearances.

Paris Saint-Germain, who are looking to sign a striker this month, have been heavily linked with Carlos Tevez after talks between Manchester City and AC Milan over the Argentine collapsed last week, and the Ligue 1 club are now reportedly in a race with Inter for the 27-year-old’s signature.

Ancelotti also conceded his Qatari-backed side have been offered a host of strikers to sign this month, including Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov, who has been linked with a return to former club Bayer Leverkusen.

“There is a lot of choice for this January market,” Ancelotti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Do you want the names? Ok, now I tell you the players the agents are offering on the market, officially or not: Tevez, Torres, Berbatov, [Roman] Pavlyuchenko, [Edinson] Cavani, [Fernando] Llorente.”

When talking of the players PSG have been offered in recent weeks, and one would imagine we are talking about players by the bucket-load given the Qatari investment pumped into the Parc des Princes side, Carlo Ancelotti cleverly refused to speculate as to which of those offered to him would interest him.

Now given that many are of the belief that Fernando Torres’s arrival at Stamford Bridge was said to be one of the reasons that the Italian fell out with owner Roman Abramovich and that Ancelotti didn’t actually want the Spaniard, a move to bring the former Liverpool man to the big spending Ligue 1 side seems very unlikely indeed.

Ancelotti may well be looking to strengthen his PSG squad this month and will have the funds to do so but a move for Carlos Tevez seems the most likely to come to fruition of the five strikers he names and even he seems set for a Milan move.

Whilst PSG have infinite funds they will need to first secure Champions League football before they seal the signings of more big name players.
