Should Manchester City penalty have been awarded? Or were Newcastle hard done by?

While one couldn’t have much sympathy with Rob Styles when he incorrectly awarded a penalty in favour of Manchester United against Bolton a few weeks ago, it was slightly different on Monday night when the same referee pointed to the spot at St James’ Park. Bolton to receive ref apology after Manchester United penalty sham: Too little, too late?

It’s not easy being a Premier League referee, with the key decisions regularly determining the outcome of a match. This was certainly the case at Old Trafford on Saturday, with Rob Styles pointing to the penalty spot after J-Lloyd Samuel had fairly tackled Cristiano Ronaldo in the area.
