Chelsea consider swapping £12m for past-it Brazilian

The Sun is whooping and hollering about the fact that Chelsea are set to blow £12m of Abramovich’s endless dosh mountain on lascivious party boy Ronaldinho. The fact that Barca are now seemingly willing to flog their former prize asset for a tiny £12m should be raising all sorts of alarm bells for the Stamford Bridge outlet but they seem to be unaware that Ronaldinho is the Lindsay Lohan of football…Except he’s ugly, and he actually had talent once…Ok, I admit it, that comparison was crap.
Anyway, apparently Barca are

“fed up with the Brazilian’s erratic lifestyle and poor form this term.”

Quite how Chelsea’s Avram Grant will get Ronaldinho back to his best is beyond me, but it could be a laugh to see the buck toothed goon fumbling around in the Premier League in vain search of his talent.

Ronaldinho: Chelsea too ugly for me

by sub on March 10th, 2008 7 comments

Sorry poor old Chelsea but you are not beautiful enough for Brazilian sorcery Ronaldinho. The 27-year old FC Barcelona ace is quoted as saying that he would never sign for the London Blues since they play the beautiful game in an ugly fashion and this simply is not his cup of tea.

Ronnie says:

I know Chelsea want to sign me but they are a team I do not want to play for.

When I faced them in the Champions League they went to kick my feet before trying to get the ball.

That kind of game is not for me and rather than ever play like that I would say, ‘no thank you’.

I would also say no thanks to an offer from Inter or AC Milan. I am trying to give my best to Barcelona.

Ronaldinho is set to leave the Camp Nou in the summer and Chelsea and AC Milan are supposedly the most likely destination for Ronnie. But now that Ronaldinho says that he is not even remotely inclined to move to Chelsea, Milan remains his most likely suitors even though he says that he wouldn’t like to move to Milan either.

Chelsea chairman says no to Ronaldinho but yes to Lampard

by sub on February 22nd, 2008 1 comment

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has revealed that the club in more interested in keeping star player Frank Lampard than in luring Ronaldinho from FC Barcelona. Bruce has admitted that the chances of the Brazilian arriving at Stamford Bridge is pretty much slim but insists that the London Blues want to keep hold onto the England international Frank Lampard.

Bruce says this about Ronaldinho:

Ronaldinho? No, I don’t see it being likely that Ronaldinho will be here next year. Anything was a possibility and certainly there had been rumours and discussions of that, but I don’t see it happening.

This is what he says about Lampard:

We want him to stay and he has said he wants to stay. He has also said he’d like to delay discussions until the summer, but I’m optimistic that we’ll be able to sort something out. It’s only because he wants to concentrate on his football. He’s a wonderful player and a superb guy and we’d like to see him for the long-term at Chelsea football club.

Indeed, at the moment Chelsea do not need someone like Ronaldinho who is apprently past his prime although AC Milan is his most likely destination in the summer. What the club requires is a passionate and world class midfielder like Frank Lampard who knows the Premiership inside out. Not that Lampard is out of the speculation pot either. He has been linked with a move to, here’s the irony of it, Barcelona.

SOS: Keegan is out of his mind!

by sub on February 18th, 2008 8 comments

Now this should make for some good laugh. It is reported that Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan had handed club owner Mike Ashley transfer requests for, wait for this, Ronaldinho and David Beckham. Well, this is not to suggest that the report is perfectly true, but assuming that The Shields Gazette wouldn’t publish any lie, you can well take the report to be as true as sunlight.

Ronaldinho is unsettled and unhappy at mighty FC Barcelona and is certainly on the lookout for a new club. But his most likely destination would be AC Milan and why in the world would a world class player like Ronaldinho take the trouble to play for a side that is actually battling relegation this season?

David Beckham has still to cut some ice at LA Galaxy and he too wouldn’t like to squander his millions and play for Newcastle even if it be one of the biggest clubs in England.

So how could Keegan even conjure up in his wildest of dreams that he would be able to import both the players? But Newcastle chairman Mike Ashley though is more prudent and practical than KK in this matter at least and has promptly turned down the manager’s request for the improbable signings.

Ronaldinho set to return to action this week

Goal.com reports that FC Barcelona ace is expected back into action this week. Ronaldinho hasn’t played in any of Barca’s matches this year and is supposed to be recovering from a knee injury that no one is quite sure how and where he picked up.

Ronaldinho is anticipated to join the Barca first team in practice session this Wednesday and although he will almost certainly not play in the Copa Del Rey tie against Villarreal, he should play at least as sub against Osasuna at the weekend in La Liga.

Ronaldinho’s injury is a mysterious one since no one is certain that he even carries a knock. But all are certain that Ronnie is no longer wanted at the Cam Nou cathedral.

Is Ronaldinho coming back from “ghost” injury?

by sub on January 22nd, 2008 1 comment

Ronaldinho is back! No, not back to playing wonderful, mesmerizing and scintillating football but to the training sessions. Goal.com has reported that Ronadinho is back working out in full sessions for FC Barcelona and appears to comeback into good shape.

All this might not be enough to wipe out the Ronnie-bashers and there are many! Last season, Ronaldinho missed almost 50% of the training sessions and spent the time in the gym yet the club insisted that he was recuperating from niggling injuries. This season the Brazilian ace has pulled out of La Liga matches for the Catalan giants in the eleventh hour because of “ghost” injuries.

Yet given Ronaldonho’s bad luck and poor form augmented by virtually everyone’s desire to walk out the player to the Catalan border, Ronnie might have to wait a little longer before he gets into the Barcelona good books. Barcelona have proved on more than one occasion that they can cope well without the World Cup winner and the Barca fans know that their Messiah for the rest of the season will be Lionel Messi and not Ronaldinho. Yet Ronnie is back and for all those love football in its romantic best will be eager to watch Ronaldinho shape up again into his old self after long last.

Ibrahimovic: Bring Ronaldinho to Inter Milan!

by sub on January 22nd, 2008 2 comments

Inter Milan appear to have taken the mantel on them to save Ronaldinho from his continuing crisis at FC Barcelona. While manager Roberto Mancini proclaimed last week that the Brazilian ace will always be welcomed into the Inter first team straightaway, this time the Nerazzurri’s star player Zlatan Ibrahimovic has come out of the blocks and stated his urge for Inter to sign the World Cup winner.

Goal.com quotes the Swedish international striker telling Corriere dello Sport that he would relish playing alongside the 27-year old Brazilian superstar. Ibrahimovic says:

Ronaldinho at Inter? Everyone would like to play with him. here is always space for someone like Ronaldinho at the big teams.

Inter Milan seem to be up for it. And maybe they could just nick Ronaldinho in the end. Although Inter have dominated the Italian Serie A for the past two seasons, they haven’t been able to exhibit fantasy football to the fans and the arrival of Ronaldinho would certainly help relieve the atmosphere a bit.

Rancid Transfer Rumour Alert! Becks to join the Toon…

by sub on January 22nd, 2008 3 comments

David Beckham to wear a Newcastle United shirt? Unlikely to most of us but well, Goal.com speculates that this could well be true although the site doesn’t mention the exact source of this rumour.

Yet would Becks be lured to St. James’ Park? The site says that the Geordies are looking for a loan move for until the end of the season but is it feasible? Surely not. Becks moved to the MLS last summer after winning La Liga with Real Madrid and although he hasn’t yet taken the MLS by storm so far, the England international would certainly like to go back Stateside as soon as action resumes in the USA to prove his mettle there.

Newcastle appear to be linked with all top players these days. Okay, Kevin Keegan has arrived to hold the reigns but come on, this is really getting over the top. Deco has already been linked with a summer to St. James’ park. Who next? Ronaldinho? No, Ronnie wouldn’t do. Kaka? Yeah, bring Kaka to play for the Geordies.

Inter Milan coach wants Ronaldinho

by sub on January 20th, 2008 3 comments

Ronaldinho is never out of the transfer rumor picture and today too he is hitting the headlines. Goal.com reports that Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini has publicly declared that he wants Ronaldinho in the squad and is confident that the Brazilian ace, struggling with poor form and apparent injuries, will settle well into his large side.

Manicini said:

Nobody believed me when I talked about Ronaldinho. I don’t think it would be a problem to have him settle in to the squad. Ronaldinho is a great player and, aside from his behaviour, the important thing is that a champion steps on to the field and makes the difference. He almost always does that.

There you have the Ronaldinho circus all over again. FC Barcelona President Joan Laporta said in a press conference ac couple of days ago that Ronaldinho is not for sale yet his words were hardly convincing. Inters bitter rivals AC Milan were thought to be the most likely club to sign the 27-year old Brazilian but Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has decided that Ronaldnho would be a liability at Milan and has now pulled out of the party. Chelsea have been persistent in their inclination to acquire the services of the player.

And now Inter have jumped into the ship and they could well prize away the player from the Camp Nou cathedral. Inter are dominating the Italian Serie A and are also going strong in Europe. That should convince Ronaldinho to move to Inter, shouldn’t it?

Barcelona President: Ronaldinho not for sale

by sub on January 19th, 2008 1 comment
  • Digg

Goal.com reports that FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has declared in a press conference that Ronaldinho is not up for sale this January. Laporta, who came into the Barca hotseat in 2003, has dismissed all rumours linking Ronaldinho to a plethora of clubs, including Chelsea and AC Milan.

Laporta said:

We planned this campaign counting on Ronaldinho and will follow this logic in a coherent manner. He is an important player for the team and we do not have any intention to sell him. He is working very well, very hard, often in two daily sessions… When he is physically well, he will return to the team.

Sorry Signor Laporta but your words may well fall upon deaf ears. It is football’s worst kept secrets that Ronaldinho is not exactly injured and that Barca do not need him anymore. The Barca faithful too have unleashed a considerable amount of flak on the Brazilian ace who has failed to recapture his old form. Under the present circumstances, it appears that only a move away from Camp Nou could cure him.

Chelsea are the perpetual potential partner eager to embrace Ronnie but Inter Milan too have raised the prospect of signing the Brazilian.

Inter + Nike = Ronaldinho?

by sub on January 18th, 2008 7 comments

Now that would be an equation that could well reaffirm the power money possesses in this vastly globalized footballing arena. Italian giants Inter Milan have recently signed a 10-year contract with Nike and Inter President Massimo Moratti is belived to splash a considerable of that cash on who else but Ronaldinho.

Goal.com has quoted a Tuttosport report claiming that Moratti is looking forward to adding the Ronaldinho gem to his collection at the San Siro. The new leash of money to Inter would enhance the club’s spending power and importing Ronaldinho to Milan money-wise wouldn’t be any problem.

Inter have jumped into the Ronaldinho bandwagon with their cross-city rivals AC Milan cooling down speculation after the Rossonerri President Silvio Berlusconi declared that Ronaldinho wouldn’t be a good addition to his Milan side. Chelsea though have been consistent in their bid to lure the Brazilian ace to Stamford Bridge but in all likelihood Ronaldinho should move to Italy.

Ernesto Bronzetti: Ronaldinho is all Chelsea’s

by sub on January 16th, 2008 13 comments
  • Digg

Ronaldinho appears to hit the headlines all over again and as always for the wrong reason. With AC Milan President Silvio Berlusconi seemingly pulling out of the bid to sign the Brazilian ace in the summer, Chelsea appear to have hit the button.

Goal.com has quoted a report in DairioSport stating that Super Agent Ernesto Bronzetti is confident of Ronaldinho signing for the English Premier League giants Chelsea in the summer. Chelsea are one of the clubs who have always fostered a keen interest in the player and now that Milan appear to have cooled down their desire to import the Brazilian, it appears that Chelsea will emerge as the most likely team to airlift Ronnie from Camp Nou.

Bronzetti says:

Barcelona were ready to talk about Gianluca Zambrotta and Ronaldinho, but Milan believe in the end the player will be moving to Chelsea.

The last one and a half years have been riddled with speculation and mediocre form for Ronaldinho but the man still is one of the best players in the world and surely a team would benefit from him. Chelsea need someone like him to instill some magic football into their playing style and Ronnie’s arrival to the Premiership would surely add an extra dimension to the championship.

AC Milan gunnning for a £100 million revamp in the summer

by sub on January 13th, 2008 1 comment
  • Digg

AC Milan certainly need a facelift and club president Silvio Berlusconi is now gearing up to do so in the summer. Milan might have notched up the UEFA Champions League silverware last season and the World Club Cup last month but as far as the Italian Serie A is concerned, the Rossonerri are in utter shambles.

Goal.com quotes the Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport in its reports stating that Milan are to embark on a £100 million revamp of the squad in the summer with star names such as Ronaldinho and Gianluca Zambrotta appearing into the equation.

Milan have been chasing the Brazilian ace since last season when his form took a dip and which has since failed to rise. With Ronaldinho’s mysterious absence from the FC Barcelona training session, both Spanish and Italian press reports are at one in condemning Ronaldinho to a summer move. And Milan are the best bet for Ronnie.

Milan are also the hot favorites to sign another Barcelona misfit Zambrota. The player and his wife are stated to be unhappy with life in Catalonia and are looking to make a move back to native Italy.

Other players lined in at the San Siro for next season include Willy Sagnol, Andrea Dossena, Luka Modric and Kim Kallstrom. A few other big names should also crop up towards the tail-end of the season. That Milan need a change in their squad has no iota of doubt smearing it.
