Arsenal’s out-of-favour defender Philippe Senderos admits he may need to quit the club in order to find first-team football.

The Switzerland international, who spent last season on loan with AC Milan, is yet to make a Premier League appearance this term.

Senderos is frustrated by his lack of first-team action and insists he is not closing any doors when it comes to the January transfer window.

Everton were in talks for Senderos over the summer and David Moyes may decide to renew his interest come the New Year.

“I need to seek a solution as I’m not playing for Arsenal,” conceded Senderos in the Sunday Mirror.

“A change of clubs in the winter is an option – I am keeping all doors open.

“This is a difficult time. It is like a test that I have to come through, but I believe in God and have to stay strong.” (Sky Sports)

It does seem fairly likely that Philippe will be looking keenly for another club in January and you can’t really blame him for doing so, neither can you blame Arsene Wenger for simply having decided after a lengthy period at the club, that the Big Swiss centre back is just not good enough to warrant a first team start.

The 24 year old could easily find regular first team spot at just about any team outside the top six because he is completely different player to the one who was much derided in his early Arsenal career. The former Servette man has matured and his game bares no resemblance to the clumsy awkward customer who first appeared in a Gunners shirt over five years ago.

His committed and solid display against Liverpool in the recent Carling Cup encounter will have acted as a good advertisement for what the towering defender is capable of.

Philippe will be looking to move to a club where he can establish himself in the side with a sustained run in the first team and a move to Everton could well be back on the cards and it may well be the best move for all concerned. I am sure that all my fellow Arsenal fans would wish him well as one thing you always get from a Senderos performance, if not necessarily a clean sheet, is a 100% determined display.
