What’s happened, Moyes?
Everton, the team described as “the sado-masochists of Europe” by the Guardian’s Andy Hunter after last night’s shoddy performance, have to somehow scrape their way back from a 2-2 draw for their next encounter with Standard Liege.

While Manchester City and Man United are in the headlines today, following on from their £30 million plus signings on Monday night, Everton have also broken the bank to land what they describe as an exciting prospect. They certainly need more clout in midfield and he looks sure to provide the Toffees with it.

It’s not the draw you imagine David Moyes would have wanted. His Everton team had a reasonable European adventure last season, cruelly ending on penalties against Fiorentina, yet they have some hard work ahead of them if the Toffees are to make the UEFA Cup group stage for the second season running.

With two Premier League victories under his belt, no doubt Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez would normally be confident ahead of a home match against the Belgian champions. But results aside, the recent form of the team must surely leave a lot of fans nervous ahead of Wednesday night’s vital CL clash with Standard Liege.
