It’s far from clear as to whether Joe Kinnear will return to St James’ Park as manager this season, with the Magpies gaffer set to undergo a heart operation at the end of this week. While Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood take temporary charge of the first team, the word on the street is that Newcastle will bring in someone with a bit more experience, hopefully ensuring they stay in the Premier League. Are Tottenham fans prepared to be patient? Ex-manager claims that they will have to be!

We’re less than a fifth of our way into the new Premier League season, and anyone would think that Tottenham have lost their first seven games by a 5-0 scoreline, rather than the fact that they’ve been on a poor run which has a lot to do with brittle confidence rather than a lack of quality. A former Spurs manager has claimed that the supporters will need to patient as the club sets about trying to change their fortunes, but is Juande Ramos running out of time? Manchester United striker slammed for being ‘poisonous’ at Tottenham: Do you agree?

While Robbie Keane might get a decent round of applause upon his return to White Hart Lane, it’s difficult to imagine the same reception for his former partner in crime. Tottenham are rock bottom of the Premier League and, while the Irishman’s move to Liverpool was done quickly and gave the club a chance to consider a replacement, the same couldn’t be said for a certain Bulgarian forward. Would El Tel and Newcastle be a match made in hell?

Ex-England manager Terry Venables is expected to decide on Thursday whether to take over as interim Newcastle boss … so the BBC tells me.

Will El Tel snub the Newcastle job?

Newcastle United are pretty rudderless at the moment; no manager, an owner who wants to sell, and freshly dumped out of the Carling Cup at the hands of fellow subterranean Premier League losers Spurs. Yet they still retain the hope of having someone, anyone, take on the role of manager.
