Blackburn in talks with £4 million Torino midfielder

by stresster on August 19th, 2008 no comments

It’s about time we started reading about players linked with a move to Ewood Park, rather than away from the Lancashire club. Brad Friedel and David Bentley have already upped sticks, while Roque Santa Cruz and Stephen Warnock are both being linked with a move, despite playing an important role in Rovers’ 3-2 win at Goodison Park. Could there be a new face at Blackburn this week? [Read the rest of this entry »]

Torino not too keen on Man City’s Rolando Bianchi

by sub on January 8th, 2008 5 comments

Italian Serie A strugglers Torino are desperately short of goals and need a goal scoring Messiah. Club President Urbano Cairo has already underlined his keen desire to sign players in January and it is speculated that a considerable chunk of those players would be from foreign shores.

But it is hugely unlikely that players imported from abroad would bear the names Rolando Bianchi and Cristiano Lucarelli. ESPN Soccernet has reported that Mr. Cairo has ruled out any offers to Manchester City or Shakhtar Donetsk for Bianchi or Lucarelli respectively this month.

This is what he says:

We are waiting to see if we can sign a player that will cover one of the weaknesses this team has. There is the possibility of strengthening our attacking line but Lucarelli and Bianchi will involve extremely complex negotiations and we don’t want to mislead our fans.

Torino are 15th in the Serie A at the moment and are just 3 points off the relegation zone. But it seems that poor old Rolando Bianchi wouldn’t even make the cut in the paler fraction of Turin. The 24-year striker was signed by Man City from Reggina last summer for £8.8million but has failed to cut the ice at the City of Manchester Stadium. Bianchi has started just 6 matches in the Premiership and has appeared on 11 other occasions as a substitute and has scored 4 times. City manager Sven Goran Eriksson was quite upbeat about the player when he shipped him from Italy in the summer now that enthusiasm seems to have gone cold.
