Shanghai Shenhua in talks to sign Chelsea striker Didier Drogba

By all accounts the side that already nabbed Nicolas Anelka is now looking to bring in another Blues striker and is said to be ready to offer the Ivory Coast striker a huge contract. Currently on international duty at the African Nations Cup, the 33 year old has had an up and down season this term and may well feel that a move away from Stamford Bridge would make sense at this juncture.

Andre Villas-Boas is clearly planning for the long term future, having signed Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku as well as giving young England under 21 international Daniel Sturridge an extended run in the first team, therefore he could be willing to listen to offers for Drogba, who will be out of contract at the end of the season anyway.

Bundesliga side Hannover are keen on Man United striker Mame Biram Diouf and Sir Alex Ferguson will probably not lose any sleep about offers for the 24 year old given that the Senegal international is some way down the Old Trafford pecking order.

After spending last term at Blackburn Rovers the former Molde man has not played a single minute of Premier League football thus far this season and given that Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen are ahead of Diouf it seems unlikely that the Dakar born forward is going to make it at Man United.

Reports in the Spanish, Dutch and German press suggest that Real Madrid star Rafael Van Der Vaart is growing increasingly unhappy at the Bernabeu after being restricted to a bit-part role at the club following the arrival of Juande Ramos. The player himself spoke to German newspaper Bild after being left out of a recent squad despite being fit, “This is a mess.”

“Apparently the gaffer doesn’t rely on me.”

The speculation has led to a number of Premier League clubs becoming aware of the disgruntled Dutchman’s situation. Chelsea have been strongly linked with coach Guus Hiddink thought to be a big fan of the player whilst the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton, Villa and Tottenham would surely be in the market for the midfielder if he is made available this summer. So could Van der Vaart find a good home in the Premier League? He was awesome in the Euro 2008 finals and has really suffered at the Bernabeu since Ramos took charge. It’s hard to believe the La Liga side could simply have no further use for the 26 year old playmaker, after all he arrived amid a fanfare and was hailed as one of the brightest talents in Europe, so what now? Do Arsenal fans think he could fit into the Emirates set up or are there already too many players of his kind in the squad?

Chelsea have identified Frank Ribery has the man they want as their star signing before next season kicks off. And are prepared to pay up to £25 million for the Frenchman’s signature.

Ribery has become hot property in Europe this season with at least 4 clubs after his signature but if speculation in German newspapers are to believed it is Chelsea that have become favourites to get the player.(footylatest.com)

Ribery would be quite a catch and would surely help the west London side retain hopes of a return to domestic dominance but could it happen? Manchester City are set for a massive clearout at the end of the season.

The Mail on Sunday says City boss Mark Hughes will try to sell Elano, Benjani, Felipe Caceido, Gelson Fernandes, Kasper Schmeichel, Jo and Javier Garrido, while Dietmar Hamann, Danny Mills, Darius Vassell and Michael Ball are all out of contract in the summer and will not be offered new deals.

So it appears that there is a price to pay for spending huge sums of money and that prices comes in the form of a huge summer clearout apparently. Quite a few of those named will not be a great loss to the club but perhaps Elano has earned himself something of a reprieve? Clearly Mark Hughes is keen to bring in new talent in the summer and given the sheer volume of strikers at the club it’s not a surprise to see three forwards on this list. Will the club be able to cope without Vassell though? Do City fans think the club can push on next season into the top six?

The only way this deal would make any sense is if Rafa was planning on selling Xabi Alonso, but then why would he want to do that? I really believe that the Spaniard is as good, in fact better, than Gareth Barry. Benitez showed great interest in getting the England man last summer and it does appear that all of this will kick off again, especially as it looks as though Aston Villa may choke and not secure the fourth spot that they have held for large chunks of the season. Liverpool defender Dan Agger remains on Ac Milan’s shopping list.

Sport.co.uk understands that Harry Redknapp has identified Arsenal’s Armand Traore, currently on-loan at Portsmouth as one of his top Summer targets, and the answer to Tottenham’s problem left midfield berth.
Redknapp is understood to hold Traore, who can play at left back or left midfield in high regard, and sees the winger as the ideal left sided player to bring balance to his Spurs midfield.

Armand has come on leaps and bounds at Fratton Park and is now widely regarded as one of the most exciting youngster plying their trade in the Premier League but as this source points out, he may struggle to get a place in the starting eleven at the Emirates so i am not surprised that Harry has shown an interest, after all it was he who brought him to Portsmouth on loan in the first place! The £9m rated who plays at full back rather than further up the pitch in my view, may well feel his future may lie elsewhere but would he make the move to arch rivals Spurs, well maybe he would and he would surely be welcomed by the White Hart Lane fans, especially if he does as well as he has at the south coast club. Do Tottenham fans welcome this speculation and hope he is targetted or would the signing be best avoided given the animosity between the two north London rivals?

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge remains adamant that France winger Franck Ribery will not be leaving the German champions in the near future.

The 25-year-old continues to be linked with a summer switch to Barcelona, but Bayern’s hierarchy have no wish to sanction any such deal.

Rummenigge told Rheinische Post: “Facts are giving the answer to all of this. Franck is under contract until June 2011 and we are not ready to allow him to leave any earlier than this, no matter what.

Ribery was also being chased by Barcelona and it appears that the rumours circulating that the French winger could be off to La Liga or the Premier League put his current club on high alert. Ribery made it clear recently that he wasn’t happy with the cover he was getting from his team-mates and that seemed to spark the firestorm of rumours thereafter. Regardless, it looks like Bayern have given every club out there a hands off warning!
