The former Newcastle and West Ham gaffer has done a tremendous job at Carrow Road to date, and he’s managed to keep them in the division as a result of the players all pulling in the right direction, something that wasn’t in evidence at Cardiff on Saturday.

Setanta reports that the Canaries boss was not happy with Wes Hoolahan’s contribution during the first-half against the Bluebirds, with his team finding themselves 1-0 down at the break. The winger appeared to shirk a couple of challenges before the interval, causing Roeder to haul him off and lay into him after the match for not following his instructions.

“He is not injured – he got taken off because I wasn’t happy with his performance and he has to do better in training this week to get a place in the team next week,” Roeder said in The Norfolk Eastern Daily Press.

“I think it is a whole new ball game for Wes Hoolahan at Norwich, where it is a much bigger club than Blackpool.

“I think at Blackpool he was the star of the show and I think he was allowed to basically do what he wants.

“Well, no, not here – he will play my way or he won’t play.”

Looks like it’s my way or the highway for the former Blackpool player, who was one of the Seasider’s best performers before making the move to East Anglia. Perhaps he wishes he hadn’t bothered, it’s pretty early on in the season to be making enemies with the manager.
