Zoran Tosic arrived from Partizan Belgrade in January 2009, and only made 2 appearances off the bench for the Premier League champions, as Sir Alex decided to let him adapt to the country, and the way United play, via the reserves. However, after an impressive pre-season tour of Asia for Tosic, he will be looking to try make one of the wide areas his own over the coming season. Comfortable down either wing, Tosic is a pacey, tricky dribbler, with excellent close ball control, who will look to take some of the goalscoring, and creative, burden off the likes of Berbatov, Rooney and Owen, similar to how Ronaldo did for the Red Devils. He is a key member of the Serbian team, alongside Manchester United counterpart Nemanja Vidic, and, with Serbia sitting ontop of their World Cup qualifying group, Tosic will be looking to go into the World Cup on a high.

The Analysis

It would be fair to say that the left side of the midfield could be considered a weak area in an otherwise extremely strong Man United squad. With Cristiano Ronaldo making his long expected move to Real Madrid and with Ryan Giggs getting older and being a less of an out and out winger and given Nani’s inability to really prove his worth at the club and Zoran Toši? not quite ready for the step up, a move for Ashley Young seems like a step in the right direction.

The Aston Villa man is being courted by many top Premier League sides and if the England man’s head is turned by such speculation then Martin O’Neill may have a struggle on his hands to keep the former Watford man at the club.

When he arrived from Vicarage Road many thought the £9.75m fee was inflated but over the past two and half years many have been proven wrong. The winger may decide that the best way to cement his place in the England international set-up prior to the forthcoming World Cup is to make the move to the likes of United, Chelsea, Man City or even Spurs and I think it would be a brave man who bets against him leaving Villa Park this summer.

Manchester United have agreed terms for Partizan Belgrade pair Zoran Tosic and Adem Ljajic.
The Daily Star Sunday says United have agreed to pay £15million for Serbian wonderboys Tosic and Ljajic.
And the European Cup holders hope to complete the double deal in next month’s transfer window.
The Partizan Belgrade pair are manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s only planned signings in January.
The club has already secured a work permit for Tosic, 21, a pacy left winger who would cost £8m.
Ljajic, who is only 17, is an attacking midfielder who is also being tracked by Spanish giants Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan – who face United in the Champions League in February.
The Old Trafford club decided to buy him after he impressed during a recent successful trial at the club’s training complex at Carrington.
Already a Serbia Under-21 international, £7m Ljajic could be loaned back to Partizan by United for the rest of the season – or even for the following campaign, too, as he has been earmarked by Fergie as one for the future. (tribalfootball.com)

It is a sign of a great manager when regardless of a season of huge success he still continues to build for the future and these two Serbs look like they could well have a bright future at Old Trafford. If Manchester United have indeed sealed these two players the fact that they would have done so by beating the likes of Real Madrid and Inter to their captures will leave Sir Alex with a big grin across his chops. According to some sources the price may be nearer to £17m but that’s not a bad price for two quality players such as these, by all accounts Tosic is very much the real deal and could see first team action fairly soon (albeit from the bench or maybe in FA Cup action).
