Napoli are ready to offer Fernando Torres and Rafael Benitez an escape route from Stamford Bridge according to The Mirror.

The Spanish duo are aware that their times at the London club could soon be coming to an end after both of them have failed to live up to expectations.

Benitez was appointed on an interim basis at the club and while it appears the former Liverpool manager was hopeful of securing the role on a permanent basis, it seems the club’s fans and management had other ideas and he looks likely to be replaced by Jose Mourinho in the coming weeks.

Footballing legend Diego Maradona could be set for a managerial role at Napoli as they seek a replacement for Walter Mazzarri, according to Sky Sports.

The 52-year-old is widely regarded as the best player of all time, and spent his peak years in Serie A with Napoli, twice leading them to the title almost single-handedly.

The Argentins is still a legend at the club, and it has been hinted that he could be approached if Mazzarri takes over at Inter Milan, as he is expected to do at some point this summer.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis recently suggested the next manager's name would begin with an M, which could also mean recently-sacked Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, but Maradona's lawyer Angelo Pisani believes he is referring to his client, and has welcomed the interest from the Serie A runners-up.

"The only coach with a big M for Napoli is Diego Maradona," Pisani told Radio Italiana CRC.

"He would be very happy for having the chance of returning to the club, maybe as a sports director or simply for being with the team in Europe.

"He would be suitable at any role. I don't know if De Laurentiis sees this as a possibility, but Diego would be the best representative of the city."

Although great as a player, Maradona is relatively inexperienced as a manager, with his biggest role of his management career so far coming as the head coach of the Argentina national team at the 2010 World Cup, where his team were eliminated at the quarter-final stage.

More recently, he had a brief spell with Dubai side Al Wasl FC, before being sacked in July 2012.

Chelsea's departing interim manager Rafael Benitez has also been linked with the Napoli post.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to fund incoming Blues boss Jose Mourinho to the tune of £100m as the Russian billionaire looks to make a major statement of intent during the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mirror claims that Mourinho has told Abramovich he needs a minimum of six new additions to help reinforce a Chelsea squad that finished some 14 points off the Premier League title pace and fell at the first Champions League hurdle this season.

It would appear that Chelsea's strike-force, or perhaps lack thereof, is an area that Mourinho sees as in most need of repair.



Radamel Falcao tops the outgoing Real Madrid boss's list of potential striker signings and Mourinho feels he has the upper hand on prospective buyers Monaco and Manchester City in the battle to sign Colombian superstar Falcao from Atletico Madrid.

Mourinho shares the same agent Falcao and believes this connection could help him snap up the prolific forward, who has scored 70 goals in 90 appearances for Atletico Madrid.

The French Under 21 international is considered by many as one of the best young talents in Europe and clearly a move for the former Standard Liege player adheres to Roman Abramovich's youthful transfer policy. Mangala has helped FC Porto to back to back domestic titles in his two seasons in Portugal.



Jose Mourinho wants Malaga youngster Isco, a player who has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in Spanish football. Given that the La Rosaleda side have lost manager Manuel Pellegrini and been banned from European competition next season it seems highly likely that the Spanish international playmaker will leave this summer and could be tempted by a move to Stamford Bridge.

Isco has netted 11 goals from midfield this season and was particularly impressive in Malaga's run to the Champions League quarter-finals.
