Manchester United piled on the pressure on visitors Fulham in this Old Trafford encounter but Sir Alex had to wait until early in the second half for his side to finally break down a dogged display by Roy Hodgson’s side.
It was Wayne Rooney, who else, who put away the chance 30 seconds into the second half that puts Man United back to the top of the table. In a game that United dominated for long spells chances came and went but it was the England man who continued his remarkable scoring spree that finally got one past Mark Schwarzer.
The 24 year old put away another goal of an astounding season late on to secure all three points and Dimitar Berbatov got a well deserved goal of his own in the dying minutes to cap off a fine individual display by the often under-fire Bulgarian forward.
It was Rooney’s 31st and 32nd goals of the season and incredibly his 15th and 16th in his last 12 games and gives further meat to the argument that the United man is currently the best player on the planet.

A pair of crafty bleeders tried to fool John Terry into offering an apology to former teammate Wayne Bridge in a stunt that could easily have turned nasty but to the Stamford Bridge skipper’s credit he managed to turn the other cheek and continue signing autographs unperturbed. To see the video of this incident CLICK HERE and pay close attention to Mr. Terry as you can see in his eyes he is thinking of lamping the pair but thinks better of it.

Arsenal scored a late winner after they appeared to be heading for a draw against an off form Hull City side who were down to ten men for more than half the match.
Andrei Arshavin continued his good run of form to give the Gunners the lead but Sol Campbell was adjudged to have brought down Jan Vennegor in the box and Jimmy Bullard duly put away the spot kick with aplomb.
The Emirates side then bombarded the home side who had George Boateng sent off for an awful challenge on Bacary Sagna. Nicklas Bendtner then popped up with a crucial winner in the dying moments to further strengthen the north London sides push for the Premier League title. The Dane tucked away the winner after Boaz Myhill could only palm away a terrific 30 yard effort from Denilson.

Whilst Roman Pavlyuchenko finds his scoring touch Robbie Keane continues to seamlessly adapt to life north of the border. The loan move from White Hart Lane to Parkhead seems to have been an easy one for the Irishman who continues to find the back of the net with alarming ease regardless of the fact that Celtic now have no hope of capturing the SPL title.
However they do have a chance of winning the Scottish FA Cup especially after they easily overcame Kilmarnock to book their place in the last four of the competition thanks chiefly to the efforts of Mr. Keane.
The 29 year old’s hat-trick may make Harry Redknapp reconsider his long term plans for the Tottenham striker even though his current crop of White Hart Lane front men are also doing a fine job in north London. Keane has now managed a very respectable eight goals from seven starts which is an impressive strike rate even in the relatively average Scottish leagues.
