Rangers and Dundee United played out an enthralling Scottish FA Cup tie at Ibrox with the visitors showing great character to come back from two goals down, and one shocking penalty decision, to set up a replay against the SPL leaders.
Rangers continue to march towards the SPL title with a straightforward win away at Kilmarnock. Goals from Steven Whittaker and Kenny Miller eased the Ibrox side to all three points.
The win for Walter Smith’s men puts the Glasgow side into a commanding 13 point lead at the top of the Scottish Premier League and surely means there is no way back for arch rivals Celtic.
A last gasp goal from Maurice Edu all but sews up the SPL title for Rangers. In a typically tight Old Firm derby it was the card count that once again overtook the goal tally and Artur Boruc was in fine form keeping the Ibrox side at bay but things became increasingly difficult for the Bhoys once Scott Brown was sent off and a late goal from Edu hands Rangers an unassailable lead at the top of the table.
A Scott McDonald goal gave Celtic a brief lead in the Old Firm clash with Rangers before Lee McCullough equalized within two minutes. It was a typically nervy affair as Celtic and Rangers did battle at Parkhead and there were the usual flurry of cautions at Celtic Park before Aussie McDonald struck late on before Rangers kept themselves well ahead of their arch rivals with their immediate response.
Walter Smith’s Rangers side annihilated Dundee United at Ibrox with Kris Boyd scoring a remarkable five goals and this was with the table toppers being reduced to ten men for almost half the match.
The win takes Rangers seven points clear at the top of the table ahead of the Old Firm derby in a few days time.
Rangers came from a goal down to overcome Hibs and increased their lead at the top of the Scottish Premier League. The Ibrox side went behind to an early Anthony Stokes goal but quick fire goals from Rangers strikers Boyd and Miller saw Walter Smith’s side edge past high flying Hibernian.
