Spurs sign Zokora…Hooray?

For some reason, Tottenham transfer news is featuring heavily lately so let’s just throw in the fact that Blackburn have supposedly bid for Mido just to balance things up.

Anyway, after grainy photographs taken by some kid’s dad seemed to reveal a meeting between Tottenham Sporting Director Damien Comolli and St. Etienne’s Didier Zokora, we now find that the trusted, well respected source the News of the World is now reporting that Zokora has admitted he will sign this week for around 8.5 million pounds,

Zokora allegedly said: “It’s done. I am a Tottenham player now. The two clubs have reached an agreement and I can’t wait.

But as Chelsea, Manchested United, Arsenal and Portsmouth were all rumored to have been interested in the defensive midfielder, it represents quite a coup for Spurs as the latter three would likely welcome additional strength in the centre of the park. It was also rumored that Chelsea wanted to buy Zokora simpy to lend him to Portsmouth, something about Abramovich and Gaydamak being chums.

“In my mind I’m already a Tottenham player. I’ve not spoken to anyone from the club as my agent has conducted all the talks but I am happy.” the World Cup star added.

Given that he was allegedly photographed with Comolli in some pub, then either Zokora is a liar or photographic evidence and transfer theories obtained from message boards is not as reliable as we thought.

Now, if Spurs can just hang onto Michael Carrick then one horrific case of the squirts may be a distant memory this time next year.
