Liverpool Boss Is Headhunted By Bayern Munich

Rumours are rife that Bayern Munich are sniffing around Liverpool’s manager Rafa Benitez like a troupe of eager piggies sniffing for truffles. But despite the unique whiff of a managerial headhunt, Rafa has renewed his vows to Liverpool and its owners George Gillet and Tom Hicks.

Even though Bayern Munich are going great guns in Germany the ‘tension behind the scenes’ at Bayern means that Ottmar Hitzfeld isn’t going to be given a new contract, and that’s when their attentions switched to Senor Benitez.

Rafa wasn’t having any of this malarkey though; instead describing his vision for the future – a future which didn’t involve supping from the Bayern Munich poisoned chalice. Rafa said:

“When we started talking about the future, we were very clear, we needed to have a plan,”

“We have this plan and we are progressing. The situation is positive in terms of things we wanted to do and what we are doing.

“When I signed the team wasn’t winning much. They said to me try to win trophies in the future.

“To play seven finals and win four trophies I think is not bad in three years. So we need to see what happens this year, but we have confidence we can do it.

“We know that we are a top side, we play against a lot of teams that have power, money, and experience.

“Our vision is to be successful, have a new stadium, and trying to improve a little bit the structure of the club. We are going in the right direction.”

So it looks like Rafa and his facial hair won’t be leaving these shores any time soon – but surely the interest from Bayern is good to gauge how much people rate him ‘on the continent’.
