So last week we got to sample the heroics and histrionics of three managers in their new Premier League jobs, but if your club was marooned on a desert island without a manager, and you had your choice of these three scamps: Paul Jewell, Alex McLeish, or Steve Bruce…who would you choose?
In terms of last weekend’s glorious victory at Spurs, and his great run with Scotland, you’d have to go for McLeish – , but Jewell has a proven track record of being able to polish up even the most turd-like clubs and keep them afloat in the Premier League. And then there’s Bruce, and all that he embodies, a fighting argumentative spirt, demands for image rights, and because of his love of food, in terms of sheer tonnage clearly the most that you’ll get for your money.
