After next Sunday’s FA Cup tie at Burnley, Arsene Wenger will be without the services of Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Eboue for up to a month, with the duo set to represent the Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations. However, according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal captain William Gallas is confident that Arsenal have the squad to cope with their departure without having to plunge into the transfer market.
“I don’t really expect us to sign anyone,” said Gallas. “I think everything is fine. Perhaps if one player does leave then we have to buy but if that is not the case then I think everything is okay as we are.
“Kolo is very important to the squad and yes we will miss him, but I will tell you by how much in another couple of weeks.”
Much will seemingly depend on whether the likes of Diarra, Diaby and Gilberto Silva remain at the Emirates Stadium, having found first-team opportunities limited this season. However, the Gunners’ strength in depth has been highlighted by some excellent performances in this season’s Carling Cup and Gallas’ confidence would appear to be well-founded.
