Luka Modric, the Croatian striker whose agent was shopping him around the Premier League last week, is reportedly staying at Dinamo Zagreb after all. The club’s president, Zdravko Mamic, told Fox Sports the 22-year old is “definitely staying another year.”
Premier League teams were not the only ones interested, with Barcelona and Valencia also seen as likely bidders. In fact, Mamic is quoted as saying he received offers from Spain as well as England and that the bidding was as high as £35 million.
Is Mamic bluffing? Maybe. Consider that his reasons (“to maintain our chances in Europe”) are null and void since Dinamo were knocked out of the UEFA Cup competition.
