Sky Sports are reporting that Aston Villa’s Stilian Petrov expects Dimitar Berbatov to leave Tottenham Hotspur in January. The Bulgarian striker has been the subject of constant rumours linking him to Manchester United and Chelsea, with Petrov hinting that his compatriot is too ambitious not to be playing Champions League football.
“Dimitar is a very ambitious guy and he will get what he wants because he is top quality, a world-class player.
“The last two seasons he has been very dangerous.
“I’m not surprised that the big teams are looking at him. I hope he fulfils his ambitions. Obviously, he also wants to be happy and I hope that he will be when everything is all over.
“He is under a lot of pressure right now to score goals and all of a sudden there is this saga over whether he is going to leave.
“That affects a player out on the pitch. So it is important for him to be happy. I know he will make the right decision for him.”
Is the writing on the wall for Spurs, despite their desperation for the Bulgarian hotshot to stay at White Hart Lane? Or will Berbatov once again proclaim his love for the North London club and try to help them win some silverware this season?
