You might think that Dave Kitson would be keen to add to his tally of eight goals on Saturday when his Reading team travel to White Hart Lane again in the FA Cup. However, the Royals striker is reported on the BBC website as being ever-so-slightly indifferent to the most famous domestic cup competition in the world.
“We are not going to win the FA Cup and I do not care less about it, to be honest,” said the 27-year-old. “I care about staying in the Premier League, as does everybody at this club. Our league status is not protected by winning the FA Cup – simple as that.”
Reading manager Steve Coppell saw his team advance to the fifth round of last season’s competition, despite fielding an under-strength team against Burnley and Birmingham in the previous rounds. It looks like there could be another Spurs goal haul on Saturday if the Royals boss does the same again.
