Cesc happy to be linked to the “biggest club in the world”

When Ramon Calderon ran for the presidency of Real Madrid two seasons ago, he promised to sign three world-class players, one of whom was a certain Cecs Fabregas of Arsenal. But all his plans to seduce the player have been foiled so far and even after being ready to lash out millions, he has still been unable to convince the young Spaniard to pack his bags for the Bernabeu.

Every time the transfer window opens, Real Madrid are linked with Fabregas.

Pro-Madrid AS and Marca always report on struck deals but at the end of the day, Fabregas sticks to the Emirates. This time is no different. Real Madrid have been linked with both Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United and Fabregas of Arsenal and while United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed all such rumours, Fabregas has welcomed such speculation although not in the way that President Calderon would have hoped for.

In an interview to AS as reported here by Sky Sports, Fabregas denies that he is eager to ship off to the Spanish capital and firmly reiterated that he is committed to Arsenal at the moment and wants to win the Premier League title with the Gunners.

This is what the young Cesc told AS:

”We are in January and I do not know anything. The whole world knows that it makes me happy that a team like Madrid wants you. It is an incredible compliment. Now I am at Arsenal and I want to win the Premier League. I suppose that it (the burden of wearing a Real Madrid shirt) has to weigh. It is the biggest club in the world and it is clear that there will be some pressure. But in this game I feel very calm and for me that is essential. That is invaluable. I enjoy playing.”

Fabregas, then, is strongly put on his immediate career with Arsenal. But how long with the player be able to resist the temptation of playing for the biggest and most successful football club in the world? Fabregas is a Catalan by birth and although it is clear that in the long run he would like to move back to Spain yet at the same time he bangs on about being at Arsenal for his whole career.
