United’s transfer window is already over

Manchester United are second in the Premier League at the moment, just two points behind leaders Arsenal. The players are going strong at the moment, a certain consistency and rhythm has been discovered and although the team isn’t quite perfect, there could hardly be any reason for importing new players in January. That is why club manager Sir Alex Ferguson has declared that there is virtually no likelihood that any new player will be signed in January. ESPN Soccernet has reported that Sir Alex is happy with the players he has got and now that the team as a whole has recovered from an early-season indifference, there is no need to add extra players to an already large squad. This is what Sir Alex says:

”Everyone is playing a game. It is unlikely we will bring anyone in.”

Fegie has also dismissed any rumours of his best player Cristiano Ronaldo leaving in January. There has been a ripple of rumour in the European press that Man United may eventually accept a record transfer fee that Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon is ready to splash out in order to secure the services of the Portuguese sorcerer but Sir Alex says that Ronaldo is staying at Od Trafford and insists:

”We have never spoken to them (Real Madrid) and they have never spoken to us. It is nonsense and tedious. Who would not be interested in Ronaldo? That is why we bought him.”

It seems like Sir Alex is happy with his players at the moment. And why shouldn’t he be? One of the deepest and most talented squads is about to welcome back Gary Neville and Paul Scholes to help steer the ship. A true replacement for the Neviller may be the only thing on the agenda with Wes Brown leaving, but there’s always the summer…
