The Liverpool Echo are today reporting that Alvaro Arbeloa’s days at centre-half are numbered, due to the Reds being close to landing Slovakian international Martin Skrtel for £6.5 million. This will a record amount paid by Liverpool for a defender, who badly need cover with Agger still crocked and Hyypia also out on the sidelines.
The same article also reports that Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has denied that he’s flying out to the States for crunch talks with the club’s owners over the future of manager Rafael Benitez.
He said: “It’s been in the diary for a long time, to discuss the stadium.”
Yes, we’re sure that the Spaniard’s name won’t come up once in conversation!
