Big Sam is certainly looking for big deals. Newcastle United are struggling in 11th position in the English Premier League with even the prospects of entering the UEFA Cup through their league position not in their sight. Pressure has been multiplying on the former Bolton Wanderers manager who took charge of the Geordies in the summer and now that money has finally been wriggled out of club owner Mike Ashley, Sam Allardyce is looking forward to using it effectively.
According to Spy Sports, Newcastle are the main contenders to acquire the signature of the Arsenal defender Lassana Diarra who has often discovered himself warming the bench in the first half of the season for the Gunner at the Emirates. This has left the talented 22-year old French international frustrated and he is looking for a window of opportunity to leave to another club where his playing chances would be maximum.
Newcastle appear to provide that window and there’s little doubt that the player wouldn’t embrace it gleefully. Diarra is clear in his mind that he wants to play and at Newcastle, a side struggling in defense as well as in attack as in midfield, Diarra would find himself featuring regularly and this would only increase his Euro 2008 chances for France.
