The Guardian reports that Juande Ramos has told his scouts to look far and wide for a decent ‘keeper as a replacement for Paul Robinson, whose season has been a complete unmitigated disaster with regular gaffes between the sticks.
In terms of other targets the Guardian’s Dominic Fifield writes that Ramos:
“has been impressed by Ajax’s Maarten Stekelenburg, who is contracted to the Dutch club until 2010, with Ramos weighing up whether to formalise his interest in the 25-year-old Holland international. The Spurs director of football, Damien Comolli, has long admired Chelsea’s back-up goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini, while Jussi Jaaskelainen of Bolton Wanderers and Valencia’s Timo Hildebrand have also been mentioned as possible targets.”
So it looks like a goalkeeper will be top of Juande Ramos’ transfer plans over the next few weeks. So just how crucial is a good goalie to any potential Tottenham success?
