Ronaldo is ‘like Best and Cantona’ at Manchester United

So says Manchester United chief executive in The Sun, echoing Sir Alex Ferguson’s comments that Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale, whatever the price and whoever the bidder is.

Gill said: “There’s no chance of us selling him. Absolutely no way, whatever the money.

“He signed a new contract last season to 2012 and we are not a selling club. Alex Ferguson has never let a player go when he was not happy to do so.

“Cristiano is happy here. Alex and Carlos Queiroz know his mind and what he’s about.

“Everything about him is Manchester United. He’s like George Best, Eric Cantona.

“You can’t sell players like that and we are not going to sell players like that.”

It’s clear that the Portuguese forward is fast on his way to becoming a Manchester United legend, even at such a young age. With potentially more than a decade of playing years ahead of him at Old Trafford, there’s every chance that he could surpass George Best and Eric Cantona – but will the United fans be singing about him every Christmas like they do with the Frenchman?!
