The bookmakers were making him strong odds-on to become the next manager of Newcastle but, according to Sky Sports, Harry Redknapp has now decided he is staying put at Fratton Park. It’s clear that the Portsmouth manager was the man identified to restore some pride (not to mention success) at St James’ Park but he’s decided it’s not for him.
However, after holding talks with Newcastle chairman Chris Mort on Friday Redknapp has decided to turn down the chance to manage Newcastle to stay at Fratton Park.
Will the Magpies go again for Redknapp or now focus their efforts elsewhere? Is anyone willing to handle the rather high expectations of the club’s owners and their tolerant (!) fans? United will be hoping to install someone prety quickly to try and make something of the January transfer window before it shuts.
