The autobiography of Nicolas Anelka might make for interesting reading. After all, how many players can claim to have played for Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Paris St Germain, Fenerbahce and the mighty Bolton Wanderers? However, The Times reveal that the Frenchman’s wild days of one-season stands and brief love affairs are over, with the striker looking to stay at Stamford Bridge for the rest of his career. Until Manchester United come calling next season…
“This is the team I wanted to join and I never want to go anywhere else again. I’m delighted everything has been sorted out,” Anelka said.
“I want to play Champions League football, I want to win trophies and Chelsea can give me that. I’m really looking forward to working with Avram Grant and following his style of football because it suits my game. I’ve been really impressed with what he and the team have done this season in what were very difficult circumstances. The quality of players here is fantastic and the competition for places excites me.”
Anelka looked sharp during Saturday’s cameo performance against Spurs and their £15 million signing could mean they still have a chance of landing the Premier League title this season, even if it is a long shot.
