Just what is the point of fining Chelsea another £40,000 for failing to control their players during a football match? The Daily Telegraph reveal that Roman Abramovich will have to delve in his pocket for some more loose change after the Blues were charged by the FA for bad behaviour against Derby County in November.
At the time, manager Avram Grant was unapologetic about his team’s behaviour, following the sending-off of Michael Essien late into the match at Pride Park.
“I don’t blame the players for questioning the referee as the decision was unfair. They did it in the right way,” he said
“For 30 seconds they said something and then the game continued. What’s wrong with this? I’m thinking about speaking to the FA, but I want to do it in a positive way. I don’t know why we’re being targeted.”
How about playing to the whistle? If every team contested a decision for thirty seconds after it was awarded, football matches would be completely unplayable. Come on FA, start threatening to deduct some points from teams who show a constant lack of sportsmanship.
