Come on, accept this: Darren Bent is not worth the £16.5 million that Tottenham Hotspur paid Charlton Athletic in the summer. He is not a world class player and although he gets crucial goals at crucial times, he is not Michael Owen. Yet, as Goal.com reports, Spurs are glad to have him on their books although the player has managed just 4 goals in 20 appearances for the North London club.
Spurs sporting director Damien Comolli has once again reiterated that Darren Bent is not for sale and has referred that Spurs are not searching for a new striker this month. Comolli told the club’s website:
The majority of the reports that I have read are completely wide of the mark. I feel it is important to clarify a couple of things that are unhelpful – namely that reports that Darren Bent is for sale are totally inaccurate and, furthermore, we are not in the market for any strikers.
Seems like the rumour mill will now switch off? Well, not at all. You needn’t worry; you shall get to hear Spurs linked to a striker of another club and Bent being signed to another club very soon.
