Brace yourself Toon Army: Alan Shearer returns. The Newcastle United legend has admitted that he has spoken to the newly appointed Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan briefly about a possible assistant managerial position at St. James’ Park but the duo has yet to reach con a final conclusion.
Sky Sports quotes Shearer as saying:
I’ve got to ring him when I get back at the end of the week. I’ll sit down with him at the end of the week and we’ll discuss it and see what’s best for everyone. He’s (Kevin) been that busy. He’s gone into the football club, he’s got that many staff there, he doesn’t know some of their names. He had a huge game today, which was far more important than speaking to any individual.
Shearer has always been touted as a future Toon Army leader (read manager of the club) and he will certainly gain much experience plying under the wings of the vastly experienced and respected Kevin Keegan. The Geordie fans must certainly be expecting huge things now and must be praying all day that the Keegan-Shearer partnership comes to fruition.
