Tottenham Hotspur are desperate for a striker to stern them at the back and manager Juande Ramos is looking towards Spain for backline salvation. Goal.com reports that the former Sevilla manager is eyeing Racing Santander’s Argentine international defender Ezequiel Garay.
Just a week remains for the January transfer window to shut up and Ramos is trying hard to land in a top draw defender. Ramos has several defenders on his wish list and it appears that Garay is the one at the top. Garay is a young but mature player who came to prominence last season for Racing and is carrying on his good stride this season too.
Racing have been reported to be disinclined to let the player in the middle of the season but that €15 million bid from French giants Lyon might well have changes that decision. Spurs need to step up their offer for the player and they need to do this pretty fast. Otherwise they would have to see Garay pass off to France.
But maybe Ramos might well let him pass. After all, Spurs have just procured the services of Jonathan Woodgate from Middlesbrough. So maybe Ramos would like not to go for Garay after all.
