Sun journo Phil Thomas reckons the Liverpool owners’ refinancing package is on the verge of completion – and that means Rafa will be given enough pocket money to splurge on making Javier Mascerano a permanent Anfield resident. Thomas writes:
“Tom Hicks and George Gillett expect to finalise a £350million package with the Royal Bank of Scotland and US bank Wachovia today. And part of that cash will go towards a long-term deal to keep Argie ace Mascherano — and stop AC Milan and Juventus trying to tempt him.
“His contract is up in the summer and Liverpool will have to pay his owners Media Sports Investment £17m to turn that into a long-term arrangement.”
So will this extra dosh help the Liverpool faithful forgive and forget with regards to Gillett and Hicks and their misdemeanours?
