Jonathan Woodgate is on his way to White Hart Lane. Goal.com reports that his club Middlesbrough had granted Tottenham Hotspur permission to go and talk to Woodgate for a possible transfer this month and talks have shown results. Spurs’ £7 million bid for the player has been accepted and the deal will be concluded before the weekend.
Woodgate has discovered some reasonable stride with Boro after three injury-rocked seasons for Real Madrid. His injuries too have somewhat subsided and the signs are that the England international, even at 28 can recapture his Newcastle United form and peek once again.
Although Boro were not eager to sell the defender, Spurs’ manager Jaunde Ramos has managed convince Woodgate to swap Teeside for North London. Spurs are desperate for a world class central defender and in Woodgate Ramos has got what he needs.
