Tom Hicks is gradually coming to know about fan power in football. Everyone knows that Liverpool supporters are firmly behind their manager Rafael Benitez and are ready to sacrifice the club’s American co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks. So much so that Hicks has himself pleaded to the fans to stop their animosity against the duo and sustain faith in them.
The Mirror quotes Hicks as saying:
With the refinancing process now done, the club’s fans can look forward to the timely commencement of construction work on the new stadium and renew their focus on actions on the pitch.
Nice try, Mr. Hicks. But what about Rafa? What is your latest take on that situation?
Rafa is under contract for two more seasons following this season. I’m solidly behind Rafa and am confident of the team’s competitive prospects under his leadership.
So Mr. Hicks has had to suck up the humble pie at last. Maybe from now on, he will not try and wash the dirty linens in public.
