FC Barcelona ace Deco’s revelation that he is on his way out of the Camp Nou cathedral has sparked a widespread transfer speculation in the English Premier League. The Daily Mail reports that a host of Premiership clubs is now vying against each other to lure the 30-year old Portuguese international midfielder in the summer.
It’s not a question of whether I feel valued or not, it’s because I want to win. If I can’t help the club win, perhaps I should leave.
While Deco has NOT been the worst player for Barca this season, he hasn’t been in his usual scintillating best either. True, his injuries at time have sidelined him to the bench but his form has rarely managed to reach the world class mark. Barca coach Frank Rijkaard is confident that he can sustain Deco at Barca next season too but with Barca 7 points behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid, things are not going rosy for the Catalan giants.
President Joan Laporta is expected to shake up the club in the summer an a number of faces would have to depart. Chesea, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United all have been alerted of the fact but it leaves little doubt in one’s mind which club Deco would choose should he indeed decide to come to the Premiership. No prize for guessing the answer, mates!
