Sir Alex: Ronaldo going nowhere

Sir Alex Ferguson must be getting tired of affirming every other day that his best player Cristiano Ronaldo is not going anywhere. The Manchester United manager has reiterated his conviction to The Guardian that the 22-year old Portuguese winger would stay at Old Trafford and that Real Madrid haven’t approached the club for the player’s signature.

Sir Alex says:

We haven’t spoken to him about Real Madrid. There’s no need, we know he’s happy here. He says his mother never spoke to anyone in any case. That story is nonsense.

Fergie is referring to a story circulated last week in the Spanish press when his mother was quoted as saying that she would like to see her son Ronaldo play for Real Madrid sometime soon.

Ronaldo has scored 17 goals in the Premier League so far and that makes him the league’s highest goal scorer; he has also bagged 6 in other competitions. His tally of 23 goals so far this season is the same number that he scored all last season and you can well place your money on him to score again when Man United take on Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.
