Arsenal have been linked with one of the most promising goalkeepers in Europe at the moment, the 21-year old Vitesse Arnhem goalkeeper Piet Velthuizen. Sky Sports reports that Arsenal scouts watched the youngster play against Ajax on Sunday and were quite impressed by the display exhibited by the player in the 2-2 draw.
This has flared up reports that the Gunners could scoop the custodian out of the Netherlands and airlift him to North London. But there is little chance of that happening this month with the January transfer window fast shutting up and the player having committed his future at the club until 2011.
So at the moment, Arsenal will have to do with the goalies they have at their disposal. Maybe in the summer, Arsene Wenger could try and convince Velthuizen to join the exciting line of young players already at the Emirates.
