Yet another Premier League club has come under American ownership and, although Derby County are a virtual certainty to be relegated this season from the top flight, the BBC reports that General Sports and Entertainment (GSE) have exciting plans for the club over the next few seasons.
“I understand the new owners are definitely looking to model themselves on the way Randy Lerner has transformed Aston Villa,” BBC Sport’s Pat Murphy told BBC Radio 5 Live on Saturday.
“They’re not going to align themselves with the way the Glazer family runs Manchester United and messrs Hicks and Gillett run Liverpool.
“The hope is this will end years of uncertainty at Derby County.”
Is this the news that every Rams fan has been waiting for? How long will it take (if at all) for Derby to become a major Premier League player? They were just about on a par with a pub team against Preston on Saturday, especially Andy Todd who looked like he’d been drinking the night before.
