Liverpool appear to have stumbled onto a dead wall every time that they have stretched themselves to sign a new player this January. And they have failed once again, this time getting defeated to the mighty Real Madrid.
Sky Sports reports that Ghanaian starlet Daniel Opare has snubbed Liverpool for Real Madrid and is now trying to get a European passport to enable himself to move from Ashanti Gold SC to Real. The move is said to be around £1.1 million but the Ghanaian Under17 international says that for him, it was the glamour and grandeur of the Spanish club that shifted his mind from Anfield to the Bernabeu.
So this is yet another smack in the face for Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez. But you know, in hindsight it does seem unlikely that Rafa could have lured a young African gem to Anfield with all the current turmoil that the club is embroiled in at the moment.
