Are Middlesbrough safe from relegation to the Championship this season? To most neutrals the answer would be a firm negative but, as Sky Sports reports, Boro’s French striker Jeremie Aliadiere feels that the Teesside club will manage to keep themselves afloat should they beat fellow relegation candidates Fulham at the weekend.
Middlesbrough have been amid the bottom three most of the season but last month’s great run of form has pushed them closer to the light at the other end of the tunnel and Aliadiere says that they would guarantee their position in the top flight should they beat Roy Hodgson’s men this weekend.
”The next game is massive for us, if we win that – and we have to – there is a bit of a gap developing between us and the third-from-bottom team. If we get three points we are almost safe. We were in a difficult position and quite a few people were saying we were destined to go down, but I think we have proved a few of those people wrong. We have worked for each other as a team and we have slowly, bit by bit, started climbing the league table. We haven’t lost since January 1 and our performances, especially away from home, have got so much better. People have been saying we are destined to go down, but we have proved them wrong. We have shown we are a good team.”
Middlesbrough might survive the drop this time around but they are not a good team. No chance. They are a poor side and that is why they are struggling at the wrong end of the Premier League table.
