Arsenal manager angry after Flamini injury

The Daily Telegraph report that Arsene Wenger is positively seething after Mathieu Flamini went to play for France B against Congo, only to suffer an ankle injury. The midfielder is now a serious doubt for Arsenal’s match against Blackburn on Monday and the Gunners manager wants an end to these mid-season friendlies.

“That is one (round of international friendles) you could do without,” Wenger said of the internationals ahead of this week’s fixtures.

“I think that if you did a poll of all the clubs involved in the Champions League I wouldn’t be surprised if 100 per cent of them said let’s get rid of it.”

Flamini has been an integral part of Arsenal’s first team this season and his presence will be sorely-missed against tough-tackling Blackburn. At least wantaway Brazilian Gilberto Silva might get a look in for the North London club.
