What did you think of England last night then? A breathtaking performance, a poor display or just a typically-average performance from a group of players who notoriously struggle to gel at international level? Thought so. That hasn’t stopped Chelsea’s Joe Cole from waxing lyrical about their 2-1 win over Switzerland, acclaiming it as a perfect win, as Soccernet reports.
‘It was nice to get a win under our belts at Wembley after the last game, and it was the perfect result really,’ he said.
‘We did not win three, four or five nil, with everyone getting too excited. It is something to build on and there were some good performances.’
Some might say the paying public would have quite liked to see their team score as many goals as possible, especially against limited opposition. However, well done to England for only squeezing past their opponents, especially Rio Ferdinand who must have deliberately let Switzerland’s goalscorer turn and shoot with such aplomb to make it a more exciting match.
