Nothing much is known about the American investors who took over Derby County a few days ago but The Rams report that the people at the top echelon of the GSE, the sports consortium now in charge, will attend matches at Pride Park from now until the end of the season. New Derby chairman Andy Appleby says:
”I can tell you that they are all great people, completely international. We have investors in Hong Kong, California and Canada, and they all recognise that this is a wonderful opportunity. They have complete trust in ourselves to be a part of this, but they’ll all be in the directors’ box periodically over the next few months. Again, they’re just private people who prefer to stay out of the limelight. They don’t mind that all the attention is on us.”
So at least these men-in-suits will watch football matches played by their team. But why is so much secrecy being maintained over the full identity of the buyers?
