Not everyone likes to play for Manchester United. Meet a relatively unknown 21-year winger Lee Martin who is currently on loan at Championship club Sheffield United. He says that he doesn’t want to play for Man United not because he doesn’t have the desire to play for one for the biggest clubs in the world but because he doesn’t see any realistic chance of breaking into the first team with established world class stars in Sir Alex’s books.
At 21 it’s time to look at yourself and ask if it’s ever going to happen at Manchester United. ‘I’ve taken a lot of knock backs there over the years which could make me stronger or set me back. I’ve learned a lot in my time with United, improving greatly by training with world-class players. But I’m realistic and feel I might need to move on now. You need to get out while you’re young. I’ve been around the first team for the past two years but only made two appearances.
Martin is determined to make his loan deal with Sheffield permanent. Now this is one young player who is focused on playing football rather than on earning a huge paycheck.
