UEFA Cup hopefuls Portsmouth did beat relegation threatened Bolton Wanderers 1-0 at the Reebok Stadium in the English Premier League on Saturday but Pompey manager Harry Redknapp is more relieved than delighted. After all, for much of the game, the visitors were the weaker side and they were truly fortunate to have come away from the Reebok with a 1-0 win.
I changed the way we played 14 times in the game because we couldn’t get any balance and they were a handful. It was like the Bolton of old, very difficult to play against.
But it doesn’t matter, does it? At the end of the day, it is the result that takes centre-stage and the truth that is that Portsmouth are now 7th in the table whereas Gary Megson’s Bolton linger just above the relegation zone.
