Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is geeing his side to go out the Emirates with all guns blazing and defeat Blackburn Rovers at the Emirates on Monday night. Manchester United’s defeat to city rivals Manchester City on Sunday has gifted the Gunners the opportunity to extend the lead at the top of the table to a healthy 5 points and Wenger attributes this opportunity to his team’s personality.
The team as a whole had a personality and a mental toughness from the beginning of the season. We were confronted with major problems and have shown resilience on every occasion. My target is to get the best out of this team, that is where you see your job. We have to get the best out of them until the end of the season, and then we can let people judge how good we are or not. And Wenger has singled out Cesc Fabregas for especial praise after watching the Spanish midfielder focus his ‘winning attitude’. They are all more mature now. Cesc is committed and you always like your players to have a winning attitude.
Arsenal surely have defied all logic this season. They do not have the money of the Manchester Uniteds and the Chelseas and cannot even match the depth in squads. Yet they are in pole position of the Premiership! That’s really exceptional.
